I have been visiting Pacific Hair since December 2015. When I came in, I was unsure what to expect. I just knew that my hair was getting a lot thinner all the time due to PCOS, and I wanted a solution that I didn't have to worry about every day. I was so sick of backcombing and adding product to my hair, and having it still not look as luscious and full as everyone else around me. They were so so patient with me on that first day, answering all the questions I had and making sure to explore all different possibilities. I was so nervous. I didn't want anyone to know I had added any hair. When you're 24, and you see all your friends just casually throwing their hair up into a messy bun, or walking through rain without fear... So many things that we should just take for granted, but when your hair is thinning, it's something we dread. They could sense the nerves though, and never once did I feel like I was being "sold" anything. The girls were there to try and help get me some of that confidence, too.

Since then, the entire team has maintained that patience and dedication every time I've visited the shop. "Last summer (2016), I decided to go blonde. Yeah, you can see where this is going. In the fall, as I was brushing my hair, a clump of hair broke off about 4 inches from my scalp. I ended up having to get my hair cut very short to get rid of all the damaged hair. I thought I could just roll with short hair again, like I have in past years, but it was a real blow to my psyche. I did not feel feminine at all without my long hair. So, I decided I was going to get extensions while waiting for my own hair to grow out.

Now, with that being said, I have heard all the horror stories about the various methods on the market and I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about losing clumps of hair and going bald. Google search it and you'll see what I mean.

I checked out various hair salons that provide extension services and the nagging fear I had in the back of my mind was that these places offer extensions as a side service. That really bothered me. I did not want further damage to my already fine hair. I wanted a place that specializes in extensions. Also, with having short hair and side shaves I wasn't quite sure extensions would even be possible - I was thinking, how would they be able to hide the extensions so they are not obvious?

Then I stumbled on Pacific Hair Loss Solutions and I am SO HAPPY I DID. Extensions (among other options) are their specialty, ie: this is their "bread and butter", not a side service. They help women and men whom are experiencing hair loss from medical issues, psychological matters and human error. Look at the before pictures, some of them are quite horrifying but the after pictures are amazing. I knew I had found the right place for me. I read over the reviews and watched the videos, which further solidified my decision to go with them. I called and I had a consultation two days later with Ivy.

I came to my appointment with pictures of what I wanted my hair to look like - I wanted very thick and long (24 inch) extensions, hair to my belly button. I was worried that she wouldn't be able to pull off my look because of how short my hair was and with having side shaves (like a Mohawk) it takes away room to place and hide the extensions. I'm sure she definitely had to think outside of the box but she was confident that she could deliver.

I placed my order and returned 2 weeks later on May 5th. To get the look I wanted, I had 3 tracks (3 pieces) installed. The hair, by the way, is thick and gorgeous. It's like a wild horse's mane, lol. Getting the tracks installed felt like getting a tight braid. Ivy and I chatted the entire time and the time flew by. I would say the most challenging aspect to the look that I wanted was the placement of the track nearest my crown as my hair on the top is not very long but Ivy worked her magic. With strategic placement, blending (hair cut) and EXCELLENT hair color matching, the tracks are pretty much invisible. I get compliments all the time on "my" long, beautiful hair. When I do tell people they are extensions they are shocked and can't believe it.

I returned two weeks later for my free check-up and booked an appointment for a track re-set at the end of June which is about 7 weeks from the initial install. I called in, however, and re-booked an earlier appointment which was super easy. The gal answering the phone/working at the front desk, is always a pleasure to deal with.

Currently I've had the extensions just over 5 weeks and I'm absolutely thrilled with them. I live my life as normal. I exercise with them - I run 5 days a week and I have had no problems. I ran the BMO 8km distance two days later without any troubles. These extensions are business as usual for me. I barely even notice they are there. You do have to make small adjustments in your hair care routine but nothing time consuming or high maintenance.

Best of all, I have had absolutely ZERO problems up to this point. Update: September and still no problems! Love this place."

This is the best that I can do for a testimonial, because I'm too shy to do a before & after photo, sorry guys! I first came to Pacific at the start of the year, which has been a long time coming. I've been in correspondence with a consultant for about 4 months regarding a large patch of hair loss I have in my crown (I'm only 28). I looked at surgery and hair grafts, but decided to avoid that because of a) cost b)potential pain, didn't want to have to take a series of pain killers afterward.

I came in for a free consultation and they showed me how human hairpieces are put on, how they cut and style them too. I came in for the appointment the next Saturday, and they had a piece that matched my hair color (black with dark brown highlights) and was a bit wavy ready to put in. They cut and style it based on a picture that I had brought in and I was all done in an hour and half. Peoples reactions: The people I hadn't told ahead of time that I was getting one didn't even notice I had gotten a hairpiece, I was actually really surprised. Most people just said "Did you get your hair coloured?" It was great, because I was able to cover what I've been super insecure about since I was 23 without anyone making a big deal about (which is great because I'm a guy) and when people touch it they pretty much can't even feel it. I can sleep in it, shower, go the gym, brush it, put gel in it and basically do whatever I want and just have it all maintained/redone every 2 months. "My hair has always been thinner than I would have liked it to be. I always wished i had long gorgeous, full, big bodied hair but unfortunately I inherited my family's thin stringy and straight hair. Then suddenly when i was 17 a few round bald patches appeared on my scalp. I was diagnosed with having Alopecia Areata. AA is an auto-immune disorder that cause the immune system to attack itself. There is currently no cure available. I tried several different treatments including creams, very painful cortisone injections directly into the scalp, and eventually a very strong and dangerous steroid called Prednizone which has a lot of long term side effects and causes extreme weight gain in the face. Not an easy thing to have to go through at any age let only being a 17 year old girl in her grad year of high school. I couldn't face my friends or even bare to look in the mirror and my self esteem was completely destroyed. I lost about 65% of my hair. I am 32 years old now and over the years I have learned to accept this condition with a grain of salt but have always been hoping and searching for a solution and ways to hide it that were comfortable and that didn't look unnatural or fake. Good quality hair is very hard to find, people will try and sell you anything. It can be quite expensive and it's really hard to find a company that is capable of doing the installments in a way that is both natural looking and comfortable to wear. It can be embarrassing going to regular salons where other people end up staring at you and the staff doesn't have the proper experience needed to deal with this type of condition. I had pretty much gave up any hope of finding any solutions that would fit all of this criteria.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple months ago and due to the nature of my growth, I unfortunately had to opt for chemotherapy. Getting a wig wasn't the first thing on my mind, but eventually once I started to look a little further into my future I realized I was going to lose some if not all my hair. I hit google and started to look around the city for places that offered wigs, and something that would look natural as well. They offer free consultations for all kinds of hair loss, so I was able to go in on a Saturday with my husband and see what they had to offer.

I was honestly, very scared -- this is not something in a million years I would've thought I would have to do, hunt around town for a wig. I went in just prior to my treatment for my consultation and was a bit unsure at first as it seemed it was more of a salon that focused on hair extensions as opposed to wigs for older women. During the consultation, my consultant went over the differences between synthetic wigs, human hair wigs, custom human hair wigs and which would be best suited for me and my lifestyle. They have many synthetic wigs that are ready to go, and something that is human hair can be ordered as quickly as the following day. The consultant suggested I chose a style that was exactly what I had already, perhaps a little longer. Her reasoning behind this was comfort. If I have something that is what I'm used to already seeing, the transition would be less of a blow. She said the most important thing is to make sure that we can get a hair system that no one would be able to tell is a hair system. The human hair wigs have a hand tied portion so that it looks like it's actually growing out of your head. She was friendly, realistic and straight to the point, at my age that's all I'm looking for.

Since I had not done my treatment yet, we chose a style (I opted to go for human hair, because I'd still like to heat style it), worked out pricing and I took my package information with me until I was ready. A few weeks later when I had my energy up and was sporting a bald look I came back in to order the style we had already chosen (they kept all my information on file). I had an appointment booked as soon as the following Tuesday and was very very nervous. When I first laid eyes on my wig, I just couldn't imagine it on my head. They placed it on and the fit was snug but not too tight, straightened it out and started on the cut. They were able to match the exact cut that I had before, but suggested I keep it a bit longer. They worked off of a picture I had brought in and talked me through the whole appointment (they could probably tell I was a bit nervous). The appointment took about an hour and a half and they went over styling information and provided me sulphate free shampoo and conditioner samples. They also offer receipts to take to your insurance company for tax purposes. We are part of a women's support group for those going through chemotherapy and there are about five of us now who have wigs from Pacific. Highly recommend!
